Abstract
Course outcomes explain the learning that should manifest in a particular curriculum through concise statements, they are specific, measurable and attainable terms, of what learners should know and be able to do as the outcome of completing a course. This study assessed the stakeholders’ participation in accomplishing the target course outcomes of the National Service Training Program-Community Welfare Training Service (NSTP-CWTS) in a private university in the Philippines. Descriptive-comparative and qualitative research design were employed in the study. The data collected were tallied and statistically analyzed using weighted mean, median, mode and t-test. Focus group discussion and interview were also utilized to get firsthand information from the randomly selected participants from university’s community partners. Three hundred ninety respondents answered the survey instrument while ten participants for each barangay were gathered for a focus group discussion. This study revealed that the target course outcomes of NSTP-CWTS Curriculum were manifested to a moderate extent by the CWTS graduates based on the data gathered from the respondents and as verified by the stakeholders. The study also revealed that civic consciousness and volunteerism were observed by the stakeholders as being manifested by the CWTS graduates. Interviews with other stakeholders revealed that CWTS graduates are equipped with skills and attitude to do volunteer works in the community. The researchers proposed that the NSTP-CWTS curriculum be continually enhanced so as to fully meet the target course outcomes.
