Abstract
This paper assessed the employers’ feedback on the performance of the 2012–2017 technical vocational graduates from the University of Batangas in the workplace in relation to the core competencies and attributes of the university graduates. The researchers used the descriptive method of research involving the employers’ human resource managers and supervisors as key informants of the study. Self-made questionnaires and on-line e-mail attachment and links were used with a 25% response rate. This study found out that UB technical-vocational graduates demonstrated the UB attributes B.E.S.T. (B-builder and innovator of knowledge; E-efficient professional and effective communicator; S-social, moral and global-minded citizen; T-transformed lifelong learner) in the workplace and these were manifested to a great extent. The findings likewise revealed that the graduates performed the core competencies to a great extent. There is conformity with current workplace requirements and standards and no mismatch of knowledge and skills of graduates and what the employers are expecting among the graduates. An enhancement in the technical vocational program’s curriculum content and on-the-job (OJT) training plan is needed to address the perceived weaknesses of the core competencies. These results can be used by the universities and the education authority as important requirements in training and standards.
