Abstract
Urbanization and climate change necessitate the evaluation of water conservation and management strategies. Modeling the response of hydrological systems to variation in climactic patterns will aid in understanding its effect on inconstant recharge rates on the flow regime. This study implemented a three-dimensional conceptual model of the Calumpang watershed by integrating geospatial tools: ArcGIS for analyzing geo-referenced data, HECHMS for hydrological analysis, and GMS for groundwater modeling. The results revealed that lithology of the soil strata, comprising of subsurface horizons of clay and adobe significantly reduces the rate of percolation into the groundwater. Besides, groundwater recharge is impeded by the expansion of impervious covers. To improve watershed storage, the researchers recommend the development of more forested patches.
