Abstract
This study evaluated the practices of the selected resorts and hotels in Anilao, Mabini, Batangas in their bid to develop their business in terms of technology and economy as well as to protect the environment through sustainable means. The proponents used the descriptive research design in determining the sustainable practices being implemented by the 60 resorts and hotels which participated in the study. A survey questionnaire that focused on the profile of the resorts and hotels was used as the main data gathering tool. The tool also included eleven indicators on sustainable practices adapted from the ASEAN major criteria and requirement for green hotels were answered by the management respondents. The researchers used weighted mean and percentage count to statistically analyze the data. The result of the study showed that the majority of the sustainable practices are being implemented by the resorts and hotels. Also, it was found out that air quality management was mostly implemented while the use of green products was the least implemented. The respondent resorts and hotels have placed designated smoking areas in response to the nationwide ban on smoking in all public places; however; the respondents admitted to still using one- time use plastic products such as plastic bags, straws, and disposable cups. The classification of resorts and hotels was found to have a significant relationship with the sustainable practices that they implement. An action plan was proposed for the development of sustainable standards of practices in Anilao, Mabini, Batangas.
