Abstract
Assessing student performance is very important when learning goals involve the acquisition of skills. Item analysis is one powerful technique available to instructors for the guidance and improvement of instruction. It is used to analyze test items based on assessment devices such as Item Facility and Item Discrimination. It is also done to know if the test was appropriately administered in terms of level of difficulty and level of discrimination. This study aimed to analyze test items of teacher-made tests in the subject Information Technology. Information technology subject is given to all college freshmen as a foundation of computer subject. The findings revealed that most of the items were in an acceptable range of difficulty and discrimination level. Some items were rejected due to their poor discrimination index. The outcome of the analysis suggested the need for test revision. Suggestions were made to improve the quality of the achievement test in order to effectively measure students’ performance of learning.
