Abstract
This study aimed to determine the effects of video games on moral development of TVL students of University of Batangas senior high school department. It also aimed to identify whether there is a significant relationship between the effects of video games to the moral development of students and their demographic profile. Furthermore, this study aimed to assess the effects of video games on moral development of TVL students of University of Batangas senior high school department in terms of social interaction. The researchers used the descriptive-correlational research design in acquiring the necessary and adequate information. They utilized the simple random sampling in selecting the respondents from one hundred thirty-six (136) TVL senior high school students of the University of Batangas. To collect the information needed, they used a structured survey questionnaire. While percentage method, weighted mean, composite mean, and Pearson’s r were used in analysis and presentation of the collected data. The findings of the study revealed that most of the respondents who participated in the study are engaged in Mobile Legends and spending 4 – 6 times and 3 – 4 hours playing video games a week. In addition, the researchers discovered that the students’ most recognized nature of video games is Mobile Games. Also, the results showed that playing video games affect the moral development of the students in terms of socialization. Moreover, the researchers found out that there is a significant relationship between the effects of video games to the moral development of students and their demographic profile. They proposed an infographic as an information dissemination material to raise awareness to students about how video games affect their moral development. Lastly, the researchers concluded that engaging in video games maintains good social relationships among TVL students of University of Batangas.
