This study aimed to assess the level of awareness and perceptions of the Senior High School ICT students of University of Batangas toward digital piracy. Also, it aimed to determine whether there is a significant relationship between the level of awareness and the perceptions of the respondents about pirating digital content. Moreover, the researchers aimed to propose information dissemination activities for the students to give awareness or in-depth knowledge about digital piracy. The researchers used descriptive-correlational research in acquiring the necessary and sufficient information. They also include all the population as the participants of the study with a total number of 57 ICT students from both grade 11 and grade 12 of the University of Batangas. In order to gather all the information, they utilized an online survey-questionnaire. While they used percentage, weighted mean, composite mean, and Pearson’s r to analyze and interpret the gathered data. The findings of the study revealed that most of the students rarely used different methods in pirating digital content. Also, it was found that the students were aware of digital piracy and agreed to the different perspectives of digital piracy. Furthermore, the study showed that there is a significant relationship between the level of awareness and the perceptions toward digital piracy. Lastly, the researchers suggested information dissemination activities in the form of infographics and programs such as symposium, poster, slogan and essay writing contest, to give an in-depth knowledge about digital piracy. |
