Abstract
The study entitled “FIFTY SHADES OF GREEN: A PROTOTYPE GREEN BUILDING OF UNIVERSITY OF BATANGAS” was conducted in order to determine and discuss the ideal facets and benefits that a “green building” would bring when it comes to pursuing sustainability in the ‘energy-hungry’ state of the modern world. The purpose of the study was to provide a profound analysis of how energy efficient and environmentally friendly such infrastructure would be as compared to the commercial buildings that are common in many industries, as well as to propose an actual design that the researchers deemed would qualify as a green building. The researchers made use of the mixed-method type of research in conducting the study so as to clearly and effectively meet its goals. In gathering the necessary data, 30 individuals of varying groups were selected through the stratified random sampling method in order to make sure that the proposed building design could be properly evaluated by experts and possible users of such in the future. After collecting, organizing, analyzing, and interpreting the results, it was found that there are numerous benefits to the construction of green buildings, especially when compared to the costs and environmental effects of the standard way of building infrastructure. Together with the researchers’ own insights and interpretations, articles and other researchers that had yielded results that were comparable to that of this study, the findings laid the foundations for the conclusions made at the end of the research.
