In a society preoccupied with an ever-changing environment,
the challenges became more complicated and demanding for selfassessment. Employing the descriptive method through content
analysis, the researcher explored how the author brings out to the
fore the concept of self-examination, how he utilizes various
mechanisms of self - examination construction and development, the
elements that contribute to the theme of self-examination, how selfexamination be instrumental in forging a better perspective of oneself
and the world, and how the concept of self-examination be utilized as
a module in the teaching of literature.
The findings revealed that the novel reflects the
understanding of self-examination employing seeing the challenges
portrayed by the characters and the struggles they have to face to
find their true self. The literary devices such as figurative language,
point of view, conflict, rhetoric, and thematic presentation can be
beneficial in bringing out and the conflicts and experiences of
characters and producing that effect to the readers of the novel. The
elements in the novel that contribute to this study are the characters
and the stories of their own. Self-examination can lead to a better
outlook of oneself and of the world. Likewise, an in-depth analysis of
the novel was done through content and thematic analysis using a
psychological approach to literary criticism. A module that intends to
help the learners examine themselves on how to deal with life
struggles is developed. |
