Abstract
Choosing the right career path is one of the difficult decisions encountered by students today. Students have various considerations when choosing a career and college major including academic, social, and economic aspects. This research study determined the factors affecting the TVL graduates' program of choice in college, which could be a basis for the enhancement of the Technical Education programs' promotional plan. A questionnaire was developed to assess areas of interest and attributes that may have influenced students when choosing a degree program. The questionnaire was completed by 75 students who were graduates of the TVL Track in Senior High School of the University of Batangas. Based on the results, students, when choosing a degree program, are mostly influenced by economic opportunities, which is a non-intellective factor; they are least affected by social influences. The intellective factor, which is the academic performance, influences the graduates to a moderate extent only. Students believe that economic factors will make a significant impact on identifying the career they will pursue. The result of the study was used as basis in reconstructing the existing promotional plan of the Technical Education Department with its aim of increasing the number of enrollees in the department upon its implementation.
