Abstract
Innovative mechanisms and technological advances have been greatly relevant since the dawn of the new era. Traditional practices and methods have become rare in the eyes of the people. The study pivoted on payment systems of fares for public utility vehicles, especially "jeepneys." Specifically, it focused on fabricating an alternative system that delivers fares to the drivers and changes to the commuters using a mechanical approach that utilized the use of conveyor belt systems. This study aimed to have an alternative way of fare collection that uses a conveyor belt. Furthermore, it aimed to minimize road accidents by eliminating distracting variables for jeepney drivers, offering convenience for passengers, and making fare collection improvements more affordable. The study used a descriptive-experimental design, whereas it used a descriptive research design because there are questions that the researchers must answer. It also used experimental research design for there is a need to test the product to determine if it will be viable for human utilization. On the other hand, the survey revealed that most of the respondents, both drivers, and commuters, strongly agreed that the research product fulfilled its expected capability to work for the users. The researchers noted that the null hypothesis failed to be rejected, resulting in having no significant differences in the perceptions of drivers and commuters regarding the functionality, usability, and efficiency of the fare conveyor. On the other hand, from the gathered and assessed data, the concepts along with the processes regarding the fabrication of the machinery were found to have contributed to its operability, usability, and efficiency respectively. Moreover, the results and conclusion identified that though the study proved to be effective, improvements and modifiable attributes would bring the product to its full potential.
