Abstract
This research paper assessed the effectiveness of the restorative justice process in Barangay Cuta, Batangas City. The respondents were 374 residents from Barangay Cuta. A 40-item self-constructed questionnaire based on reviewed literature was used as a survey instrument. The data gathered were statistically analyzed and interpreted. Results show that the effectiveness of restorative justice in different approaches such as sociological, emotional, and psychological approaches, and in preventing re-offending has a positive effect in the community in settling disputes. The victim and offender are well-encouraged to personally deal in settling disputes without compromising the community norms. Community work service is the most utilized existing restorative justice program that effectively reduced the commission of a crime. The researchers gave some inputs that can be utilized by the community to sustain and improve the effectiveness of restorative justice in Barangay Cuta.
