Abstract
This research paper focused on locating crime hotspots in the municipality of San Pascual, Batangas and its effects in the community. The respondents were 379 residents from Barangays Poblacion, San Antonio, and Sambat. A 30-item self-constructed questionnaire was reproduced and distributed to the respondents as research instrument. The data gathered from the survey were analyzed using frequency count and weighted mean. The three mentioned barangays are the crime hotspots located by means of directly obtaining records from the local police station. The results show the effects of crime hotspots in the community based on the following most agreed statements by the respondents. When it comes to safety, it is suggested to fetch any family members or friends to ensure that they are going to arrive safely in their destination. In terms of economy, the stores and other business establishments are prompted to install CCTV for security which adds to their operational costs. And when it comes to the conditions of the surrounding, barangay personnel frequently conduct actions in maintaining peace and order. The researchers recommend the following: (1) the conduct of crime mapping where it can specifically provide the exact location of those areas with high crime rate; and (2) local police or barangay police should conduct regular visitation to their areas of responsibility to establish harmonious relationship between with the residents that can result to crime prevention.
