Abstract
The program evaluation of the Community Extension Services (CES) of the University is substantial as a basis to enhance a program in sustaining a dynamic and productive partner community. The main objective of the study was to assess the extent of the University of Batangas Junior High School’s community extension programs from 2016 - to 2021. The study utilized the descriptive design with 35 respondents from the partner community selected through purposive sampling wherein the quantitative data were analyzed using frequency count, percentage, weighted mean, and standard deviation. Using an adapted and improved survey questionnaire divided into four parts – the profile of the respondents, the extent of Social Commitment and Volunteerism, the impact of the community extension programs, and problems and challenges encountered in the implementation of the programs and activities, the data suggest that the UBJHS students’ commitment and volunteerism were observed by the respondents to a great extent. The data also showed that the respondents know and understand the different extension programs of the University, have acquired the skills necessary and useful in their dealings with their fellow residents and the service providers, and have improved their values and attitudes to a great extent. However, the respondents also disclosed that they encountered several challenges during the implementation of the different extension services: Simultaneous community extension services and departmental activities, Lack of proper monitoring and evaluation on the outcomes of extension program or activities, Inconsistency in the sustainable community extension programs implemented by the department in terms of service delivery, and Insufficient skills in developing teamwork and cooperative activities to support the livelihood.
