LABS UP: A MULTI-OPERATED TEST TUBE CLEANER FOR SCIENCE LABORATORIES IN UNIVERSITY OF BATANGAS

Abstract
The study aimed to develope the prototype test tube cleaner which its effectiveness was assessed by Grade 12 STEM-Allied Health Students, Science Teachers, and Laboratory Personnel. The study used a quantitative method and used a developmental and experimental design to assimilate the study. A total of 60 test tube users from the University of Batangas responded using a survey questionnaire. The instrument was distributed using a simple random sampling method. From analysis of results, the researchers concluded the prototype test tube cleaner is effective in terms of accuracy and speed of cleaning and that there was a significant difference between the evaluation the Grade 12 STEM-Allied Health Students, the Science Teachers, and the Laboratory Personnel on the performance of the prototype multi-operated test tube cleaner in terms of accuracy, and speed of cleaning. This prototype product can clean a test tube without breaking it and without leaving any substances inside the apparatus. It can also lessen the time cleaning of the students which make them to enjoy experimenting. This product can also clean an estimated of ten (10) to fifteen (15) test tubes during the 1 hour and 30 minutes class hours if the battery was fully charged. Last but not least, the researchers suggested a potential enhancement for the prototype multi- operated test tube cleaner, in which the use of a different type of test tube brush that can effectively spin while cleaning the instrument without leaving any scratches, and using more durable materials with more accessories are highly recommended.
