Abstract
This study aimed to examine the influence of color palettes on viewer assessment of animated characters in the context of character design in the animation industry. A descriptive research design was employed, collecting data through a survey administered to 80 12th-grade senior high school students. Findings indicate that contrast, hues, saturation, and color symbolism significantly impact viewer assessment. Color palettes affect personality, emotion, appeal, and memorability of animated characters. However, no significant variation was found in the effects of specific color palettes on viewer assessment. The study proposes practical techniques for animators, including color theory, character trait research, and the use of limited palettes. This research contributes to understanding color theory in character design and facilitates the creation of visually appealing characters that effectively convey emotions and storytelling elements.
