Abstract
The traditional mode of communication between PUJs (public utility jeepneys) presents issues that have yet to be addressed, including environmental noise pollution, harsh lighting conditions, and psychological barriers that prevent drivers and commuters from communicating effectively. Individuals with disabilities struggle to communicate "stop" when drivers are requested to a halt. HATID, a quiet "para po" system, seeks to address these challenges. This quantitative study, aligned with the ninth Sustainable Development Goal, employed a descriptive-experimental technique. Researchers tested HATID on seventy randomly selected Batangas City residents, including jeepney drivers and commuters of various ages. They collected data through a physically distributed survey questionnaire and analyzed it using the Mean Distribution Table and Two Sample Assuming Unequal Variance T-Test. The findings revealed that respondents believed the mechanism could withstand difficult conditions and that the input-output mechanisms facilitated successful communication. Respondents showed a great deal of interest in the system because they understood its potential to increase alert response efficiency by overcoming physical, psychological, and environmental constraints. The study also discovered a substantial variation in the level of acceptability across respondents, resulting in the rejection of the null hypothesis. HATID is a potential "para po" system that could enable people to securely indicate their stops while driving with only a few modest adjustments.
