Abstract
This study aimed to propose a prototype design of a thermo-cooling waiting shed powered by a solar panel to address commuters' issues with high temperatures in Batangas City. The research focuses on understanding the perceptions of selected engineers and commuters regarding energy efficiency, airflow, and internal temperature within such a structure. The study employed a descriptive-experimental research design of the quantitative type to gather necessary data, utilizing a researcher-made questionnaire. A total of 40 respondents were selected through stratified random sampling, comprising 20 engineers and 20 commuters. Statistical tools such as frequency distribution, ranking, weighted mean, composite mean, and T-test were used to analyze the data. Google Form served as the primary instrument for data collection and drawing conclusions, with the majority of both engineers and commuters agreeing that the research product met expectations by providing a comfortable and energy-efficient environment for commuters. The results indicate no significant difference in perception between the two groups regarding energy efficiency and airflow, leading to the failure to reject the null hypothesis. However, there is a notable difference in perception regarding the internal temperature of the proposed design, resulting in the rejection of the null hypothesis. The study underscores the acceptability of the proposed thermo-cooling waiting shed in enhancing the commuting experience in Batangas City, offering a more comfortable and sustainable transportation infrastructure. Additionally, the results and conclusions reveal that although the study proved effective, further modifications are suggested to enhance the product.
