Abstract
The evaluation and measurement of pain  response are essential elements of effective pain management. Neonates are unable to verbally  communicate or confirm their pain, making it challenging for healthcare professionals to assess  their level of pain. This descriptive correlational research assessed the 40 NICU Nurses in terms  of their knowledge and perception on neonatal pain management. The researchers utilized the  non-probability purposive sampling design, and complete enumeration, as a means to obtain  responses from each of the members of the population. An adopted standardized questionnaire  employed with 4-point Likert scale was used to gauge the respondents’ level of knowledge and  perception on neonatal pain management in the NICU. The majority of the respondents were  aged 31-35 years old, females, with 1-5 years of experience in NICU. The researchers conclude  that NICU nurses have a positive perception on the concept of neonatal pain, pain assessment  tools, and pain interventions in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. The results of the study showed  that there is no significant relationship between the demographic profile of the respondents in  terms of age, sex, and years of experience in NICU and their knowledge and perception on the  concept of neonatal pain, pain assessment tools, and pain interventions.
