Abstract
This study aimed to determine the factors that affect postpartum patient’s decision  in seeking Physical Therapy within Batangas city. Using the in-depth interview for the data gathering, the researchers purposely selected ten postpartum as  participants in this research. They analysed the responses of the respondents  through the use of thematic analysis. The study found out that 90% of the respondents are not informed about what physical therapy is, and what it can do for postpartum patients like them. The researchers used the socio-ecological model to organize the responses of the respondents. Results say that the leading cause in the Intrapersonal level is the lack of knowledge about Postpartum Physical Therapy and what its benefits. Interpersonal level includes misinformation of the PT coming from the families. Biased media sources are one of factors that affects their decisions, where internet were consulted over physical therapists. Community level includes lack of referral of postpartum patients to physical therapy. Lack of knowledge from the experts about what Physical Therapy can do to them is also one of the causes why there isn't any confidence of postpartum patients to physical therapy. Societal level includes norms around the society of seeking for what we call hilot, a massage given by non-professionals. It became norm to the point of physical therapy is not an option for them because of easy access hilot. It was recommended by the researchers that the physical therapy students would be educated about postpartum physical therapy starting from their families and friends, so people may be informed about the postpartum physical therapy. It is recommended by the researchers that the professors emphasize the importance of physical therapy to postpartum patients. For doctors, it is recommended that they give an early referral to physical therapy for postpartum patients to address musculoskeletal issues, pelvic floor dysfunction, and other physical challenges promptly. Further, it is recommended that the future researchers explore on and help advocating for the inclusion of postpartum physical therapy services in standard postpartum care guidelines and protocols to ensure comprehensive support for women during the postpartum  period.
