Abstract
This study proposed a web-based research archive for the University of Batangas (UB). In the recently concluded academic year 2014 – 2015, a major challenge on the part of pioneer batch of students in writing their papers was finding sources of related literature and studies to support their research. Thus, the Brahman Researches Online Catalogue (BROC) was proposed to serve as a central repository of student and faculty researches of the UB Batangas City and Lipa City campuses, and make the researches accessible to the UB community. BROC is a web application designed to store the researches in portable document format (.pdf). The stored researches could be searched and the web application could return a filtered result based on the query of the end user. The study used the software development life cycle in developing the proposed application. The structure of the web application was designed using workflow, entity relationship, context, and use case diagrams. The web application was developed using different open source technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, and MySQL. The study concluded that using several diagrams and a combination of open source technologies, the web application designed and developed would meet the specified functionalities.
