Abstract
Two sets of length-frequency data from Java and Batangas Bay were subjected to modal progression analysis, utilizing the Bhattacharya Method and NORMSTEP routines in FiSAT. The stock samples from the Sulu-Sulawesi Sea showed faster growth and a more dynamic population-setting than those taken from Batangas Bay. Relative age of individuals ranged from 0.7 – 1.7 years in Batangas Bay and 0.5 - 2.3 years in Java. The population structures of both stocks are observed to be very different from each other even though the growth rates did not show a large difference. The Java stocks showed a more balanced and matured population structure as compared to those from Batangas Bay.
