Abstract
As the country develops, speed of transportation of goods and its people becomes more important. As a consequence, road accidents increase significantly through the years. Road safety research becomes a necessity now-a-days since the transformation of the country through national development and technological advancement is happening in significant pace. This research provides pertinent information that will help build policy decisions and be considered in formulating various countermeasures that are essential and specifically appropriate to the country’s own condition. This study presented perceptions of drivers and passengers of public and private vehicles as to the safety features of the (STAR) tollway facility. In conclusion, this study provided an assessment and recommendations of road safety issues gathered from interviews of different users of the facility to potentially reduce accidents. The study recommends a road safety audit be conducted on the facility especially on spots where accidents frequently occurred. The findings of this research are not an end in itself but should be shared and applied in order to acquire the full benefits intended.
